annual budget meeting

Prayerfully considering the Lord's direction for 2023/2024

June 25, 2023

Starting at 12pm
Join us after church on this Sunday for our Annual Budget Meeting. This meeting is crucial to the life of Celebration as we continue to prayerfully discern the direction of the Lord together. In the meeting we will celebrate the Lord's goodness in the previous year, looking forward into 2023/2024 with anticipation of His direction and leadership. The 2023/2024 budget will be presented and walked through, giving room for any questions, thoughts or concerns as we prepare for this coming year.

Members of Celebration, this is an important gathering for you especially, so please be diligent in attending either in person or online. For those of you joining online, the link can be found below and will go live at 12pm that Sunday

Board Member Nominations

In addition to the 2023/2024 Budget we will also be voting on three new board members.
Please consider their candidacy and bios below!

Brian Schmidt

Brian and his wife Colleen have been attending Celebration since 2003 and became members in 2017.  Brian was elected to the Board in June 2020, and has been the Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee since then.  He was also a member of the Pastoral Call Committee that brought Pastor Nico to us permanently in 2022.

Brian enjoys serving the Lord and the church in his role of Treasurer, applying his knowledge of finance and organizational management that he has from his “day-job” as a financial advisor.  The Schmidt’s have been heavily engaged in the life of Celebration over the years - through small groups, Alpha course, and volunteering as ushers, Sunday school teachers, and sound/lighting board operators.  In his free time, Brian enjoys reading, golfing, watching too many sports on TV, and playing Scrabble with his lovely wife, and sons William and Alexander.

Thalia Magyar

Thalia loves investing in hearts and reminding them to look to Jesus. She is often appreciated for her capacity to truly listen, both to God and to others. She listens for the heart of the matter, and responds wholeheartedly. In her free time she enjoys building puzzles, reading, and baking.

Thalia’s heart is to see the prayer and worship movement grow, in depth and in width. When she moved to Regina in 2020 she came looking for a church that had a high value for prayer and worship, one that looked like family. Celebration Church exceeded her expectations and she quickly made her home here.

Thalia has been embraced in various leadership roles through school, church, and work. This includes leading the ministry on her former university campus, leading team projects, and working in youth and children’s ministries. It is her delight to be embraced as a board member.

Connie Switzer

Connie Switzer, her husband Rob, and their daughters Portia and Anaka first came to Celebration in search of bible-based teaching and a pastor who cared deeply for his congregation. Both were found along with a welcoming and loving church body, plenty of opportunities for growth and ministry, and a clear desire for both unity and outreach.

Currently, Connie teaches Mathematics at Luther College High School, having also taught Physical Education and Christian Ethics. She invests heavily in the lives of her students and colleagues by coaching volleyball and track, coordinating service opportunities for the student body, participating in missional endeavours in El Salvador, speaking in Chapel, and leading a variety of community-building initiatives for Faculty and student.

Serving on the Board at Celebration presents a new opportunity to step humbly where God has prompted in this last season. Connie is thankful for those who encouraged her to accept this call and she is hopeful that she will learn much and grow further in wisdom and discernment to be of useful service to the Church.
