LIGHTHOUSE
On the Saturday of the hamper distribution the action starts at the church around 9:00 AM. We spend time in prayer, asking God to direct our steps and open the hearts of those we will be dealing with. People start coming at about 10:00 am. They look through the clothes, have coffee and time is spent talking with them. Developing friendships with people takes time. People do open up and talk about their hurts, struggles, and dreams. We want this place and time to be a safe and friendly environment. The Adult Learning Centre is set up for the children. We have planned activities for the children so the adults know they can sit and relax and not worry about their children. A few worship songs are sung and then a short gospel message is given. If anyone wants individual prayer or counseling we do that after the message. Hampers are distributed after the message.
The LightHouse is always in need of more volunteers. Volunteer as a family or get your Care Group to come as your outreach activity. Come once or come monthly. As you can see there are many areas where YOU can serve. Whether you fill hampers, make coffee, sort clothes, talk with people, play with children, you are needed! You will be BLESSED!!
