Live from the couch in the guest house in Guatemala. I am sitting on one of the most comfortable couches I have ever landed on in my life. What a joy to be with 16 people from our church that are giving so much to these people. On Tuesday we went to a slum right by the second largest garbage dump in the western hemisphere. Our team walked, worshipped (while Nick played his guitar) and we prayed. Close to 100 people followed us as we walked through the slum. Going through very narrow walk ways while cautiously avoided areas that you did not want to step in. What a joy. Not one person complained. The flies were everywhere. It was amazing how they did not bother our team.
The faces of the people were so beautiful.
Ulla Hovdestad’s aunt gave her two quilts to hand out while we were here. One of these pictures is of a lady who saw the blanket and asked Ulla for the blanket. Without hesitation Ulla gave her the blanket. A little later one of our team members had an opportunity to wash a man’s foot as an act of healing. The team member asked for a towel or something to dry the man’s feet and Ulla instantly handed the team member the blanket and it was used to dry the man’s foot. The man was weeping with the fact that these Canadians were giving him so much.
The other picture is of the girls on the team and the leaders of this little community church. Behind them are 110 ‘lighthouse’ food hampers. Distributing this food made me so proud of our Lighthouse ministry at CLC. Lighthouse team you are incredible. Keep making a difference.
Our team continues to play with the kids here at Dorie’s Promise. More information to come.
