Our focus at this past weekend’s service was two fold: honouring our spiritual inheritance and walking in wisdom thereafter. Both of these things are difficult to do because they stand in direct opposition to our sinful nature. Sin is divisive in its nature, as it pulls apart people, families, and congregations alike. When we walk in sin, our natural reaction is to act like the prodigal son, demanding our inheritance while showing no appreciation for the sweat it took to achieve it. Spiritual inheritance works the same way – we take for granted the work put in before us, the prayers prayed on our behalf, and we either give ourselves to complacency or entitlement as we move forward outside of the place of wisdom.
As you move forward in your life, move forward with honour. Respect the people who came before you, as doing so will allow you the clarity of mind to proceed with wisdom. Dishonour clouds the mind, and your ability to make God-honoring, wise decisions is compromised when you are operating within a sinful mindset.
As we seek to walk with wisdom, remember that achieving your goals is often a long-term process, and certain things can’t be rushed or shortcutted. Have the humility to rely on the body of Christ to hold you up. And church, have the courage and the willingness to hold people up.
Have a great week everyone! Pursue the Lord in what you do this week! Don’t waste your time on trivial things, but turn you eyes to heaven, where God is not only in control of all things, but He is also to completer of His promises
