This past Sunday we wrapped up our Summer Psalms series. To close we showed a video from the Skit Guys about Psalm 139. It was a funny yet powerful and moving video. For those of you who were not able to see it, here is the link to the video to watch on their website or to purchase:
Cory Illingworth – Summer Psalms – Wrap Up
The Summer in Psalm series has one week left. So many great stories have arose from us as a church as we study the book of Psalms.
If you have not taken time yet to write out your version of Psalm 23, I want to encourage you to do that. Every once in a while someone sends me their copy. It has been very encouraging for me to read how you the body of CLC have been touched by our heavenly Father. When you come into the sanctuary over the next few weeks, you will see on the wall of all different Psalm 23’s. I want to reiterate that we are not altering the word of God, rather taking David’s Psalm and using it as a guide for what we would write. I am grateful to God that He wants to hear our thoughts.
This past week we took a look at Psalm 139.
Psalm 139 talks about God’s omniscience (all knowing) in verses 1–4. It talks about God’s omnipotence (all-powerful) in verses 5–6. It talks about God’s omnipresence (all-present) in verses 7–12. In verses 13–18 David praises God for how he has made him. In verses 19–22 David petitions God for his life. Finally in verses 23–24 David asks God to point out the things in his life that are not keeping him on the right path.
I encourage you to read Psalm 139 and Romans 8 this week. Watch how the two are so similar. God loves us.
Blessings and Peace to you all
