This past Sunday we talked about taking up the mantle of leadership in our homes, in our workplaces, and in the places of ministry the Lord has called us to. This mantle is vital to the success of not only the people we are leading, but of our hearts being made full by walking out what the Lord has called us to! We will only find satisfaction in being who the Lord created us to be – nothing else can satisfy us. We spend a lot of time drawing our attention and affection from the temporal pleasures this world offers, not realizing that in doing so we operate in a state of perpetual dissatisfaction because we aren’t getting the nourishment we need.
About a year ago I was driving in my car, and the Lord spoke to me, saying simply: “You are starving”. I have always been well fed (sometimes too much!), but what the Lord revealed to my heart was that it was my spirit that was starving – I was attempting to live on spiritual junk food. It’s not that I was ignoring God completely, but I was ignoring the meat of who he is and focusing my attention on fringe revelations, arguments, and trying to fit what I wanted from God into my carnal ways of thinking. What I realized that day is the same realization we need now – that we must hold on to the meat of who He is – the love of the Father, the sacrifice of Jesus, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit – and be renewed by the transforming of our mind to be like His.
As a church full of leaders, we must walk out our calling – nothing else will satisfy our corporate gathering. I am being reminded today that the beauty of Jesus and following His Word in its fullness is not only worth it, but everything pales in comparison to Him! As you go through your day today, regardless of whether you read this in the morning or evening, if your mind is off – stop and reset it. It isn’t worth wasting time with wandering eyes. The Lord has called you to lead, and its time to pick up our mantle and do it well!
