Days 1 to 5
Regina to Colorado Springs, Colorado
When we left Canada there was barely any snow on the ground. By the time we arrived at our first stop in Gillette, Wyoming we had hit a snow storm. We celebrated the American Thanksgiving at a Perkins. It was great to have a turkey meal again.
We ate at a restaurant in downtown Denver called Cora Faye’s. It was a beautiful little place and Cora herself came by our table and greeted us. It was great to share with her why we were in Denver and where we were headed. People are constantly amazed that we are taking our whole family to go to Guatemala. I think it is amazing that God has called us to go and serve as a family. He is has totally provided for us as a family.
Our 2008 Dodge Caravan is holding up great. If you are looking for a great mechanic shop than I would encourage you to check out Regina Automotive Warehouse. Cam told me about this shop and they fully inspected our van, made the necessary repairs and told me it would get us to Houston and back. It is running great.
Today we stopped by Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, CO. It was so neat to see all of the Adventures in Odyssey rooms and play areas. Thanks Ali Schulz for the tip. Tonight we are staying at Glen Eyrie Castle. We are not actually staying in the castle. They only let the adults stay in the castle. We did have a wonderful tea there as a family. Tomorrow morning we get to have breakfast in the King James room in the castle. Yes it is an actual castle. It is amazing. Check out www.gleneyrie.org It is run by the Navigators. It is such a beautiful property. They even gave our family a ‘pastors’ discount. They have really been encouraging to us.
Finally I would like to share about Cassie Bernall and Rachel Scott. Our family stopped by Columbine High School. Columbine is the High School where Cassie and Rachel were shot on April 20, 1999. It has been stated that both of these girls were asked if they believed in God just prior to their lives being taken. Both of them said yes. It was a powerful moment for us as family to stop and honour these two girls and the others who lost their lives here on earth that day. It was also a challenge to us as we are on this journey that we truly need to live every day for God. You can watch the following song by Michael W. Smith about Cassie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgX0tghvz4A This is the Time.
The attached pictures are of Cora Faye’s, Whit’s End at Focus on the Family and outside of Columbine High School.

“My Sheep Listen to My voice; I know them and they follow me.” (John 10:27)
This is a scripture that just resonates “safe and secure” with me. My God loves me. He longs to bless me. And when I take time to Stop what I’m doing, Drop to my knees and listen for His voice, my heart leaps as it overflows with knowledge, real deep understanding of what His love means, what His wisdom for my live entails. It creates in me that sense of; I know that I know that I know. How sweet it is.
Sunday morning I had the privilege of sharing a message to wrap up the Renewed series. The series began when Cory shared a collection of scriptures for us to study throughout the month as we turned our whole selves over to God for the renewing of our Heart, Mind, and Spirits. Other messages in the series included Matt sharing on the renewing of our Mind, Cory teaching on Giving God Control. All of this leading up to the Spiritual Renewal weekend.
This past weekend we had a marvelous time as a church family, coming together on Friday and Saturday night. Matt taught on renewing the wineskin, Kristen taught on putting ourselves in a position to have our hearts renewed in the Holy Spirit. There were times of focused listening prayer on Saturday. I know people were healed – I was one of them. The highlight for me was to see so many people operating in the gifts that God has graced them with. Some were teaching, some were praying, some were ministering to hurting friends, some were worshiping – and the list goes on.
None of this happens by luck. It all takes planning and a willingness of everyone to contribute their part. And it all starts when a small group gather in prayer seeking God’s direction for the messages and experiences at Celebration. To receive that direction we have learned to Stop what we are doing, Drop to our knees and listen with our whole being. Then we Roll on with what we’ve heard. We hope that you enjoyed this series. We certainly enjoyed sharing it with you.
