Today Jesse, Phil, Nick and Cory took the train from Delhi to Amritsar. Amritsar is the center of the Sikh religion. The train took 7 hours to go a little over 400 kms. Great experience. Cory and Nick went into a 3rd class car and were met by about 10 young adult guys who were fascinated with them being from Canada. They even showed Cory how to hang out the train door. That was a great experience. Totally safe.
The train is an amazing way to experience India. So many people to meet.
Cory and Nick shared with the young adult guys about their beliefs in God. The Sikh religion is a multi-tiered belief system. At times we really have felt for these people. They are very committed to their beliefs.
Tonight at the Golden Temple we saw thousands of people bowing, giving offerings, bathing in the lake around the temple, kissing the ground and a lot of other physical actions. It amazed us to know they choose to do all these actions to try and please ‘god’. Please pray for the people of the Sikh faith.
Tomorrow we are going to wonder through Amritsar to see how God wants to lead us. We will meet the Lotz’s and the Krett’s at the airport in Delhi on Saturday night.
